MakerBot release Android application to create models for 3D printing
3D printing, technology that is used to take a 3D model and creating (printing) a real world object based on the model, is slowly gaining ground. MakerBot Industries, a New York based company has been making steady progress in this area and has already released a few printers for enthusiasts. This week, MakerBot announced availability of Android application that can be used to ease up 3D printing work flow.
Using the MakerBot app, users can prepare digital designs for 3D printing, access everything MakerBot from the Android device, find models that are not available in the library and print using MakerBot’s Thingiverse app. You can also monitor and control MakerBot Replicator 3D printer using this application. Once the printing is started, the onboard camera (of Replicator) will send updated images of the build area once every three seconds based on which print can be cancelled or paused depending on the need.
