Line Lite released in 11 countries, brings the Line experience without the bloat
One of the more popular messaging apps, Line has followed in the footsteps of Facebook and released a lightweight version of its app. Less than 1 MB in size, the Line Lite app has been released in 11 countries.
Announcing the launch of the app, Line also made sure to mention its userbase has grown to 205 million. This data is spread across 203 countries. The new Line Lite app is being aimed at users where network infrastructure is not good enough. Line Lite is also being targeted at users of lower end smartphone.
Line Lite supports all the core features present in the main Line app – messaging – media, text and stickers are all covered. New account sign ups are also supported. Features like audio and video calling, Timeline are not supported yet, but Line says that it will try to bring as many features as it can without affecting the performance or app size.
Here are the 11 supported countries: Algeria, Cambodia, Colombia, Egypt, India, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Korea, and Vietnam.
