Android Lollipop OTA update rolling out for LG G Pad 8.3 GPE
Google has started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update via OTA to the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition. This is the first Google Play edition device to receive the Lollipop update, so it’d be safe to wager that other GPE devices will be getting their Lollipops soon, too. HTC comes to mind – they’ve done their part of the work and submitted it to Google, who is now busy testing and QAing the update before releasing it.
Lollipop update is the biggest update Android has received in the last couple of years, both design wise as well as under-the-hood – there’s a spanking new Material Design language that Google has rolled out, in addition to a new runtime for apps, promising improved performance and efficiency. That is one of the reasons why this update is taking a bit longer to roll out this time.
