LG create new finger print reader that hides under glass
LG Innotek, part of LG, works on manufacturing core components of mobile devices (like touch panel, camera module etc) and this week, Innotek has announced a breakthrough in how finger print sensor is embedded in a phone. The new under glass fingerprint sensor module would mean that smartphone makers do not have to have a dedicated fingerprint reader on the back or on the power button. They can place the finger print sensor under the glass, giving uniform and clean look for the phone.
LG Innotek creates a shallow 0.01″ furrow on lower back side of cover glass to install fingerprint sensor. This way, the sensor is not exposed and also has false acceptance rate of 0.002%.
Changhwan Kim, Head of the company’s R&D Center said, “We are concentrating on all our resources to the development of the differentiated technology based on the creation of cus-tomer values.” “We will continue to provide convenient, safe, and pleasant user experiences by launching innovative product.”
