Lenovo is recalling LS-15 power cord due to fire risk
Lenovo has issued a recall of power cord, LS-15, used in 73 different models of notebooks globally. The Chinese giant is recalling the power cord for models sold between February 2011 and June 2012.
The company is only recalling the power cords after a bulletin from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, which notes 15 incidents involving overheating, sparking, melting and burning. It’s a fairly important safety issue, but it involves only the power cord connecting the adaptor to the mains socket.
To assist you with the process, Lenovo has set up a site. The company has listed the affected notebooks, and if you have one of those, bought between February 2011 and June 2012, you can request for a replacement and the company will ship you one free of cost.
