Lenovo announce new ThinkPad tablets and ultrabooks at CES 2016

Here comes the first announcement from CES. Lenovo, the world’s leading PC maker has unveiled the new expanded ThinkPad X1 portfolio. The first new product is surely brilliant and innovative. ThinkPad X1 Tablet is a modular convertible and is the world’s first tablet to come with OLED display. Also announced is a refresh to super popular ultrabook, ThinkPad X1 Carbon. The refreshed model is thinner and lighter than the outgoing model. Lenovo has also announced ThinkCentre X1 All-in-One PC and it truly looks gorgeous.

ThinkPad X1 Tablet

The main selling point for the new ThinkPad X1 Tablet is ‘modular design’. You can connect a battery pack to increase battery up to 15 hours, a presenter module (that contains a pico projector and HDMI port), 3D imaging module (with rear facing Intel RealSense camera) to elevate the usability of the tablet. You can also connect a full size ThinkPad keyboard that has three adjustable typing angles to provide users classic ThinkPad keyboard feel. ThinkPad X1 Tablet also comes with LTE Advanced support.

The new 2016 Yoga weights just 2.8 pounds and is super thin (0.66 inches). This is also the world’s first convertible with Samsung OLED display (optional). Lenovo has continued with Lift and Lock keyboard mechanism and retained Lenovo Pen support. The pen is housed inside the tablet and is automatically charged while inside.

X1 Carbon is one of the best ultrabooks available in the market and the new variant is thinner, lighter and has more power under the hood. ThinkPad X1 Carbon is now offered in 1TB Samsung M.2 NVMe next generation SSD storage (5x faster than normal sata SSD) and also has Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X7 LTE modem with 4G LTE Advanced Carrier Aggregation support for up to 300 Mbps download speeds. Other features include WiGig wireless docking, Touch Fingerprint reader and TPM.

X1 AiO comes with a 23.8” built in display and th 11mm frame makes it one of the world’s thinnest AiOs. The display has anti-glare coating and the build is meant to withstand dust. ThinkVision X1 is world’s first monitor to receive TUV Eye-Comfort certification. At just 7.5mm thick, the X1 Display has a 27” UltraHD edge-to-edge anti-glare display. ThinkVision X1 comes with built in USB Type C port.

The 3D Imaging Module will be available starting May from $149
ThinkPad X1 Yoga will be available starting January from $1449. OLED models will be available starting April. Prices will be quoted nearer the time.
