Kobo Aura One is a 7.8 inch waterproof eBook reader
Ever since Amazon released Kindle eBook reader in 2007, there are not many changes that happened (apart from the display getting better, backlighting etc) and Kobo Aura One is one eBook reader that is set to bring a shift in the way we use eBook readers. The Kobo Aura One comes with a huge 7.8″ high dpi display but what makes this one unique is the built in water resistance. Aura One has IPX8 rating which means that it can be submerged in up to 2 metres of water for an hour. Kobo Aura One will be available in USA from 6th of September for $230. For book readers, there is no better reading device than an eBook reader. We use Amazon Kindle in house and you can read about our views in this post.
The 7.8″ display on the Kobo Aura One has 300 dpi 1872 x 1404 pixel resolution display. The display is the first eBook reader display that reduces blue light and emanates a orange glow at night so that you do not get effected by the bright white light at night.This is a welcome feature given that emphasis on the reduction of blue light in displays.
The Kobo Aura One supports most eBook formats like EPUB, MOBI, PDF, TXT, HTML, RTF. This means that you can import any book and read it on the Aura One. You can also import books purchased on independent stores, books from Project Gutenberg etc and this will be a massive advantage for those who prefer reading books that are not from Amazon’s store. Though the display is 7.8″ in size, the weight of Kobo Aura One is only slightly more than that of Kindle Paperwhite.
