Japan Display Inc announces worlds first WQHD display with in-cell touch tech
Japan Display Inc. (JDI), one of the fastest growing supplier of small and medium sized displays has announced mass production of world’s first WQHD resolution LCD panel with in-cell touch technology. With a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, Japan Display is going to enter the big league.
The new panel will be 5” in size and has a RGB layout of pixels. The display has a 160 degree maximum viewing angle and has a surface luminance of 500 cd/m2 and NTSC ratio of 85%. Typical contrast ratio is set to 1500:1. In-cell display technology allow panel makers to combine digitizer, touch panel, LCD display into a single layer (more popularly known as zero-gap display panel). Thanks to the in-cell display tech, the new panel will have much less glare, better brightness and clarity under sunlight and at the same time help OEMs make thinner smartphones.
