PasswordBox acquired by Intel, to become a part of Intel Security
PasswordBox, a password manager, has been acquired by Intel for an undisclosed amount. The company will become a part of Intel Security, a branch of the chipmaker that works on improving internet security.
This is the second acquisition of note by Intel in the field of online security – PasswordBox boasts of having 14 million downloads, and for a password manager, that’s a good figure. PasswordBox lets you store login information for any webpage, all encrypted and saved in your account online. You only need to remember one master password and the app will autofil wherever it can.
For now, PasswordBox will continue to work as usual, but the company is light on details about its future. It exists as a browser extension for desktops – supporting Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari. There are mobile apps for both iOS and Android, which are free, too.
