Ideum and 3M release touchscreen coffee tables running Android or Windows
Microsoft Surface table showed the world what all can be done by having a capacitive touch display covering entire table top. It was a successful initiate by Microsoft as we saw (particularly) news channels make use of these tables during new bulletins (especially during election reports and match reports). This week, Ideum and 3M have announced two new coffee tables, named Ideum Platform 46 Coffee Table and Ideum Platform 46 Coffee Table. Platform 32 has a 32″ display, Platform 46 has a 46” display. Both coffee tables are powered by Intel i7-3540M 3.7GHz processor. As one can expect, the display is spill proof but good luck with cleaning the table when there is are ketchup and sauce spills or the traditional Indian dal that is a nightmare to clean when it dries up. Windows 8 running tables can be purchased now (starting price is $6950), Andorid variants will be available later this year. It would be awesome if Ideum provided dual booting tables instead of selling Android and Windows tables separately. Here is a video uploaded to YouTube by Ideum showcasing the table’s features:
