Huawei Mate 9 Heading To US For $600, Features Amazon’s Alexa
Huawei is bringing its current flagship smartphone, the Mate 9 to the shores of the USA. The latest smartphone from Huawei comes with a 5.9 inch full HD display. It is also the first phone ever to come with Amazon’s Alexa digital assistant pre-installed. Huawei has priced the Mate 9 at $600. It is worth noting that the phone was launched back in November last year. Huawei also launched a Porsche Design version of the Mate 9.
Huawei Mate 9 Specifications
The Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.0 skinned on top. The device features a 5.9 inch full HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It comes with a pixel density of ~401 PPI. The device measures 156.9 x 78.9 x 7.9 mm and weighs in at 190 grams.
The Huawei Mate 9 is powered by an Octa core Hisilicon Kirin 960 processor coupled with Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. It comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. The device supports microSD expansion up to 256 GB using the second SIM card slot in the dual SIM version. The single SIM version comes with a dedicated microSD card slot.
The Huawei Mate 9 features a second-generation Leica dual-lens camera with a 20 MP monochrome sensor and a 12 MP RGB sensor on the back. Both the cameras come with f/2.2 aperture. The primary cameras also come with phase detection & laser autofocus, OIS, 2x zoom and dual LED flash. The camera comes with features such as Geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama, HDR.
On the front, the device sports an 8 MP secondary camera with f/1.9 aperture.
Connectivity options on the device include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, Infrared, USB Type-C 1.0 reversible connector and FM Radio. It is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery with SuperCharge technology which is said to provide a day’s worth of charge in just 20 minutes.
Huawei and Amazon has come to an agreement to bundle the Alexa digital assistant on the Mate 9. While US customers will get the app pre-installed, existing users will get an OTA update that will install Alexa on the system.
