Hangouts for Android gets stickers, ‘last seen’ and video filters
Hangouts for Android has been a bit of a sad app to use – the app has lacked a good UI since its launched, it was replacing Google Talk, a much liked app which used open protocols. It also lacked speed and features, but Google is doing a bit to fix the features part with a new update.
With the new v2.5 update, Hangouts for Android now has some neat additions:
- Stickers
- Last Seen, ala WhatsApp and other apps. This feature is being rolled out in stages, so you may not yet see it live for all of your friends/contacts.
- Video filters, for when you’re bored of being the same old natural self during video calls
- Smart suggestions in location sharing – this is the most interesting part. Depending on the messages you receive, for example, a question, Hangouts will try to understand it and provide you with an option to answer the message with a single tap. “Where are you?”, for example.
- Improved discovery if you confirm your phone number
The update has been pushed out, and should reach your phone soon.
