Google Project Vault wants you to secure your devices with a microSD card
Managing multiple passwords for your myriad range of services is not only difficult, but it’s also tedious. With the growing risks of getting hacked, Google wants to lend a helping hand. First, the company started pushing out its Password manager to all Android devices, and now, the company announced a new Project Vault to help you secure your devices better.
Google’s Project Vault microSD cards come in 64 GB version, with 4 GB of the storage space dedicated to, and partitioned for storing your most sensitive data. It will plugin to any device – your desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone where it will run its ultra secure operating system.
Google’s Project Vault refers to microSD cards running a Real Time Operating System, built with a suite of cryptographic solutions to keep your devices and data secure. It will also let you message your friends who also have Vault on their devices. This is not all – the Vault comes with a security protocol that will determine who you are based on your usage. While this may sound creepy, it works in such a way that it comes up with a Trust Score after asking for your input.
For all these features it comes with, Vault is a plug n play solution, requiring almost nil user input. It is currently in experimental stages, with around 500 testers at Google testing it out. The other surprising bit is that it is open source, so if you want, you can go ahead and take a look at it.
