Google Pixel 3a officially discontinued
Google Pixel 3a, the upper midrange variant Google phone is now officially discontinued. In USA, it is out of stock everywhere and is in ‘unavailable’ state in Google’s own store. This decision to discontinue Pixel 3a when there is no alternative shows Google’s continued missteps in hardware division.
When there is a product that is selling better than other products, brands always continue that product. Take Apple for example who still sell iPhone XR because it is low cost alternative for those who want to buy iPhone but cannot buy the flagship models. Even iPhone 7 and 8 models are still in stock as they are selling well. Google somehow misses this very key point. Pixel 4 series ended up with lacklustre response and due to Soli, they could never ship it to countries like India. In India, the only variant that is selling is 3a. Google was supposed to bring Pixel 4a this year but that has never happened, probably due to the Covid crisis that disrupted supply chain.
Pixel 4a is already in doubt as Apple’s iPhone SE 2020 comes in at $399 and has excellent camera. There were rumors earlier that Pixel 4a will come at $399 but now that price would make it DOA.
In other countries, it may be available till local stocks last.
