Google Hands Free is a phoneless, cardless payments service
Google continued its announcements barrage with a new, phoneless and cardless payments service called Hands Free. It literally means hands free, letting you pay for things without having to pull out either your phone or your card.
After announcing Android Pay on the first day, Google made it outdated with its new Hands Free payments service announcement. While Android Pay, as a platform, will encourage merchants, hotels and other places to adopt Google’s new NFC based payments service, the Hands Free platform will help you pay by simply saying “I would like to pay with Google”. That is all that Google requires you to do. To test it out, the company is launching it as a beta service at Papa John’s and McDonald’s in San Francisco. While it’s definitely a small area to test it out at, it’s a slightly risky service. If it sees broad usage, the company will work with other merchants and eateries etc to bring it to Google users in those areas.
