Go Bengaluru – App Review
Bengaluru as you know it, is a city that has congested traffic and the city is trying hard to have a good public transport information in-place. But little do we Bengalurians explore all the available options. We think we know every available options, but there is always something new. There could be a new bus deployed in the route. There could be a new metro line in operation. We already have so many app in the mobile and we now have to install new apps to get the information. Xerox took the matter in their hands and built the Go Bengaluru app. They already have similar apps for LA and Denver.
The purpose of the app is simple and straight forward. It get your destination and finds you all the available travel options between you and your destination. You can then go ahead and take an informed decision. The app will show you both Ola and Uber cabs from your vicinity and it will let you compare the options. It can also tell you the public transport option and guide you to the nearest pickup point. The app rates each travel option based on the carbon footprint. For instance, my work and office are 10 km apart. The app tells me that if I take a bike, my carbon footprint would be 1.3 KG of CO2, as opposed to 2.4 kg while driving my car.
Those these values may not be accurate, it gives me an idea. I can weigh other options as well and I can sort by timer, cost and eco-friendliness. Once you have chosen an option, you can go ahead and launch the required application and complete the travel. If your choice is Ola, then you can launch Ola app. If your travel is public transport, you can launch maps to navigate to the nearest bus stop or metro station.
The design of the app is very simple and minimalist. The visual language is intuitive and goes well with the concept. Go Bengaluru app is available on both Android and iOS. Web users can also access it from Go Bengaluru website available at www.goblrapp.com. Install the app from the Play store and let us know your thoughts.
