Fiber Phone is new landline phone from Google
Google Fiber Phone is the first land line that will be available for those who are using the popular Google Fiber broadband internet. We do wish that this is available in India, given how bad the cellular networks are these days. Unlike a normal landline phone, the Google Fiber Phone supports unlimited local and nation wide calling (for 10$ a month). The best part is that the phone number is in the cloud so you can use it on any phone, tablet or laptop.
“Fiber Phone can help you make the most of your home phone—even when you’re not at home. Adding Fiber Phone means getting access on the road, in the office, or wherever you are. Your Fiber Phone number lives in the cloud, which means that you can use it on almost any phone, tablet or laptop. It can ring your landline when you’re home, or your mobile device when you’re on-the-go. We’ll be introducing Fiber Phone in a few areas to start. Over time, we’ll roll out Fiber Phone as an option to residential customers in all of our Fiber cities. Once we bring the service to your area, you can sign up and get the service through a simple installation process.”, said, John Shriver-Blake, Product Manager, Google Fiber
