Facebook Trusted Contacts is redesigned Trusted Friends
Trusted Friends was a feature introduced in 2011 as a means to recover your account when you are not able to log in This month, Facebook did a complete redesign for Trusted Friends and evolved it into ‘Trusted Contacts’. If you forget your Facebook account password, all you need to do is ask at least three of your ‘Trusted Contacts’ to send you a recovery code and once you have three valid security codes, you can use them to access your account. Facebook recommends that you have around 5 trusted contacts to make account recovery easier.
Setting up Trusted Contacts is easy.
- Go to your Security Settings –> Trusted Contacts.
- Select three to five friends to be your trusted
- You can later choose more friends as trusted contacts
- Pick friends whom you can reach without logging in to Facebook (phone, email etc)
- Selected contacts are notified about your selection
- And you are done with the setup
