Evernote enters mobile messaging service after tie up with Korea’s Kakao Talk
Mobile messaging service is one of the hot areas this year and we are seeing a new service come up every month or two. Evernote, famous for its note taking and food applications has now partnered with Korea based Kakao Talk to provide Evernote’s services via Kakao Talk. There is no denying that these messaging services are one of the best apps that quickly gain mass adoption and can be a very good platform for other services to expand their reach. We do not have further detail on what the deal terms are.
Kako talk currently has 90 million registered users ( 95% of smartphones in Korea have Kakao Talk installed) and this deal will help both Evernote in expanding their servcies in Korea and at the same time provide Kakao talk some global visibility. The in-chat windows of Kakao Talk will provide Evernote services where in users can send or save or access useful information from their Evernote account.
“Evernote’s products have traditionally been quite introverted; keeping your own memories and information for your own use. But there’s a big demand for improving our sharing and collaboration capabilities, and we’re always looking for the most innovative ways to do that. With Kakao Talk, people will be able to share their memories more easily, as well as keep the conversations that are important to them. There is a lot we can learn about sharing and communication by working with Kakao.”, said, Evernote CEO Phil Libin
