WhatsApp voice calling now going live with v2.11.531
WhatsApp voice calling feature is finally being rolled out to Android users, with the latest version of WhatsApp, v2.11.531. This version is not yet live in the Play Store, so you’ll have to download the latest version from WhatsApp’s website.
WhatsApp is rolling this feature out on an invite-basis – people who have the voice calling feature can send these ‘invites’ to their friends by initiating a voice call from WhatsApp. The receiver will then have this much-awaited feature turned on on their phone as well.
I’ve tested WhatsApp voice calling over 2G, 3G and Wi-Fi. While it doesn’t really shine through on 2G, it works quite well on 3G and Wi-Fi as you would expect.
