Cyanogen 12S will bring Lollipop to the OnePlus One next month
Controversies aside, Cyanogen Inc. will be pushing out the Lollipop update to the OnePlus One, in the form of Cyanogen 12S. The company is still skeptical of OnePlus One’s future beyond the Lollipop update that it’ll be delivering next month, but for now, the update is in the works.
However, it’s worth noting that the Cyanogen 12S update will be rolled out to global OnePlus One users only. The ongoing tussle between OnePlus, Cyanogen and India’s Micromax has ensured that Indian users of the OnePlus One will not be updated to Cyanogen 12S. Instead, OnePlus is working on its own Lollipop update for Indian users. The company has released an alpha version of Lollipop, built from AOSP, for those impatient for the final update to be released.
The company’s founder revealed this to Android Central in a interview, where he goes on to discuss in more detail about the entire issue that caused an Indian judge to label Cyanogen as the “villain”.
