With more and more applications relying on ads, you have to be aware of what kind of access is given to application. For example, some launchers get access to your contacts to send ads and that is violation of your privacy. Here is a guide to find out what each application can access on your phone. You can access our full list of guides for Oppo Color OS 5.2 in this page.
If you are using newer Oppo/Realme phone running ColorOS 6, head to this guide instead. You can also access our recommended smartphone list to get list of best smartphones that you can buy.
Every application installed on your OPPO smartphone may require certain data or access to your phone’s other features (mic, camera, etc.). To check and manage what an app is trying to access, do the following:
Open Settings application.
Go to Security, click on Permissions.
You will find all the permission categories on your phone. From this list, you can get list of apps that have access to each function like call, read contacts etc.
Click on “Apps” tab at the top (next to permissions tab), to get list of application installed in your phone. Click on each app to see list of permissions that that app has and you can change permissions from there.
Change the permission. There are three types of permission that you can set for each function:
- Allow: Always allow the app to use the required permissions.
- Forbid: Disable the required permissions completely for the app.
- Ask: Every time you start the app, it asks you to grant the permissions that are required.
