Chrome OS beta getting a revamped Chrome Launcher 2.0 with Google Now
If you are one of those few users of Chrome OS beta channel, there is some interesting news for you. Google is revamping the launcher from a basic windows design with apps to a Chrome tab style with Google Now integrated to make it all more relevant to you the moment you launch it.
Google has been talking about bringing Material Design to as many of its products as it can. Chrome OS is also slated to be getting it, and the process seems to have begun with the File Manager. Apart from that, the new Chrome OS beta update will also bring the ability to auto-update the timezone based on the current location. This will be really helpful when you’re travelling.
The new update will also bring the ability to unzip password-protected zip files, which is a very basic and needed feature. You can migrate to the beta channel from the Settings page and wait for Google to push the update out for your Chromebook.
