[CES 2015] SanDisk announce SSD Plus and Ultra II mSATA HDD
SanDisk Corporation has announced a new SSD, SanDisk SSD Plus, targeting laptop and desktop PC users offering better system performance. Also announced is the SanDisk Ultra II mSATA HDD, a new SSD for mSATA-enabled systems. Both the products were announced this week at CES. SSD Plus will be released in Q1 2015, will cost $69.99 for 120GB and $109.99 for 240GB. SanDisk Ultra II mSATA HDD will be released in Q1 2015 and will cost $73.99 for 128GB, $115.99 for 256GB and $220.99 for 512GB. Both the SSD will come with a three year warranty.
“Today’s information-hungry, always on-the-go consumers are constantly looking for faster, better-performing computing devices that provide data in an instant, but they don’t necessarily want to replace their entire system in order to get that boost,” said Philippe Willams, director of retail storage, SanDisk. “At SanDisk, we are focused on providing SSD solutions that give users improved performance on their existing PC, laptop or tablet with faster speeds, greater durability and higher capacities, all with a simple upgrade from a brand they can trust.”
While SSD Plus provides upto 23 times the performance of a traditional hard drive, mSATA HDD provides whopping 550MB/s read speeds. Apart from being faster and low on power consumptions, the new SSD and HDD are also more reliable than current generation drives. Users also get SanDisk SSD Dashboard application that provides hard drive management tools to check performance and health of the SSD, configure manual or scheduled TRIM, notifications for firmware updates and regular tips to maintain the drive in healthy state.
