[CES 2015] Lenovo updates ThinkPad lineup, introduces Stack accessory

At CES 2014, Lenovo has announced upgraded version of Thinkpad X1 Carbon, their flagship ultrabook for business users. Celebrating 100 million ThinkPad unit sales, Lenovo has also announced Thinkpad stack, ThinkVision X24 monitor and uprades to other ThinkPad lineups. The third generation of X1 Carbon continues to be the world’s lightest 14” ultrabook device, now offers 3K resolution display, new set of ports and connections and will be powered by 5th Generation Intel Broadwell Core processors.

“Since the original ThinkPad 700, ThinkPad engineers have continued to drive innovation by making each new ThinkPad better than the last. Reaching 100 million units sold proves they are succeeding,” said Yang Yuanqing, chairman and CEO, Lenovo. “When we acquired IBM’s PC business, we made a promise to not just protect the ThinkPad franchise, but to make it even better, even stronger. Today, ThinkPad continues to be one of the most respected brands in the industry, fueling Lenovo’s rise to number 1 in the global PC industry. Now, even as Lenovo expands into mobile devices, servers, and ecosystem and cloud computing, ThinkPad will remain at the core of our strategy and the heart of our business. It is an honor to continue to bring this legendary brand to our customers, and I look forward to many more ThinkPad milestones to come.”

ThinkVision X24 display features a 24” borderless screen, is just 7.5mm thick. The IPS panel display has FullHD resolution with 178 degree viewing angle and can be connect to source using DisplayPort or HDMI port. X24 is the first monitor to use pre-coated metal (PCM) surface technology for a non-traditional rear cover. The frameless display is very useful for those who stack monitors side by side.

ThinkPad Stack is an interesting accessory, using which you can stack multiple adapters and devices using magnetized interlocking. You can stack a 10,000mAh power bank, 1TB USB 2.0 HDD, Wireless Access Point and Bluetooth Speakers in one stack that looks much better than laying these devices across your table.

“It has been a genuine privilege to be an integral part of ThinkPad notebook success through one hundred million units,” said Brian Krzanich, Intel CEO. “The dedication and imagination of ThinkPad engineers over the years has produced some remarkable technological breakthroughs. As computing takes new forms and enables amazing new experiences, Intel is eager to see what Lenovo can come up with next.”
