[CES 2015] HP announces ZBook 14 and 15u ultrabooks and virtual workstation

At CES this week, HP has announced super thin and super light workstation class Ultrabooks, HP ZBook 14 and ZBook 15u, the next generation virtual workstation and enhancements to Remote Graphics Software. HP has also announced HP DL380z Virtual Workstation, a new way to have true workstation experience that is secure and optimized for IT needs. HP ZBook 14 and 15u Ultrabooks will be available from January 2015 with a starting price of $1,249 and $1,199 respectively. HP DL380z is already available in market and price will be provided on request. HP Remote Grahics Software version 7.1 will start shipping in april 2015 and is only available for HP Z Desktop and Mobile ZBook Workstations . To use this on other supported hardware, HP will release the software to the market later in the year.

“Our new workstation Ultrabooks demonstrate our unwavering commitment to professional customers and the need for light, first-class mobile workstations to augment the design workflow,” said Jim Zafarana, vice president and general manager, Commercial Solutions Business Unit, HP. “HP mobile, desktop and virtual workstations are the innovation engines of companies around the globe, designing everything from automobiles to block-buster movies.”

The second generation ZBook 14 and 15u come with 14” and 15.6” displays respectively. Powered by 5th generation Intel Core processors, both the ultrabooks run Microsoft Windows 8.1 operating system. Tending to profession 3D computing is AMD FirePro 3D graphics that is powerful enough to drive the demanding 3D softwares. Users can also buy the ZBook 14 with a touch screen display that has 10 point FullHD multitouch panel. HP will be offering workstation applications from Adobe, Autodesk, Avid, Dassault, ESRI, SolidWorks, Siemens and many others at launch. Coming to other specs, users can add upto 16GB of memory, upto 1.25TB of storage, a HP Z Turbo Drive (PCIe connected SSD) that offers 2x the performance of SATA SSD.
HP DL380z Virtual workstation comers with Intel E5 v3 processors with up to 36 cores with a speed upto 3.5GHz, upto 1.5TB of DDR4 2133MHz memory and can run Windows and Linux operating systems. DL380z supports Citrix and VMWare virtualization tools.
