Carbon backup application for Android renamed to Helium to avoid trademark violation

For Android phones that are not rooted, Carbon backup application is the best one you can get without paying a penny. Carbon backup can be used to backup and sync Android applications so that if and when you want to do a full reset of your phone, you need not worry about losing all that application data and messages. Do a full backup to the cloud or save the backup on local storage (internal or SD card) and after the reset, install Carbon and restore whatever data you backed up. If you had used  Caron in the past and dont find it in Google Play Store now, do not panic. Due to trademark issues, Clockworkmod team had to rename the application to Helium. Do remember that the application is not available for Motorola phones dueto a bug that breaks Android’s backup mechanism. Sony Xperia S and Xperia Z too have similar issue and so Helium will not work on these two smartphones.

Helium (Free) features:

  • Backup and restore to SD card
  • Backup and restore from PC

Helium (Premium) features:

  • No ads
  • Automatic Backup schedules
  • Android to Android sync
  • Cloud backup and restore with support for Dropbox, Box and Google Drive
Listed below is the full change log for the new version:
  • Renamed to “Helium” (trademark issue)
  • App icons are now stored in a .nomedia directory that is hidden to other applications as this avoids spamming Gallery
  • Bug fixes
  • Helium’s Windows Installer now includes the Universal ADB Driver as part of the installation resulting in better device recognition
  • Cloud backups are now managed separately per device
  • If your device has root, you can now backup Wifi settings
