Its raining power banks and after OnePlus power bank, the Asus Zenpower power bank is all set the enter the market. Let us compare these power banks and see which one is better. It all started with the Mi Power bank. Prior to Xiaomi’s power banks, a portable battery was an expensive affair. Xiaomi, with their aggressive pricing strategy, have changed that landscape forever in the power bank land. The Mi power banks are still one of the best ones available and now let us start the comparison with the Mi Powerbank.

Honor 13000 mAh vs Mi 10400 mAh vs Asus 10050 mAh

Mi Power bank

The Mi power bank is available in India as 2 variants: 10400 mAh and 5400 mAh. A slimmer 5000 mAh power bank and a larger 16000 mAh battery bank is available elsewhere in the world. The Mi power bank priced at Rs 999 and it is scarcely available to buy. The 10400 mAh can reach up to 80% efficiency and it has a nice design as well. People who have got it have complained rarely. But cases have been recorded where people complain the loose connection issue at the USB port. But generally, it is still the best value for money power banks you can get. It can detect when the mobile has been charged to 100% and it will automatically stop charging. It has short circuit protection and over-heating protection. It does not have any sort of display but its LED lights do the work of indication the state of the device. If you are looking for a beauty with brains, go grab it when it is back in stock. But beware of the fakes floating around in the market. Even sites have snapdeal have some sellers selling fake mi power banks. Please buy it only from trusted sources.

OnePlus Power Bank

Everything the MI Powerbank lacked, the OnePlus power bank had. Right from dual charging to slim pocketable design, it has everything we longed for. But when finally it came to India, it is pricier than in US. It is (currently not) available at Amazon for Rs 1399 and at this price, the Mi power bank looks like a better bet. Yet, this one will delight OnePlus one owners at it matches the feel of the mobile.

Asus Zenpower Power Bank

The Asus Zenpower looks like a miniature version of the Mi power bank. It has the same aluminum finish of the Mi power bank and almost the same power rating. It has been a few days with this charger and I am finding that it is giving me about 65% of the rated capacity. The Box label marks the MRP of the device at Rs 2499, but it will be available for a price less than that for sure. It will be available in Flipkart and Flipkart has listed the price at Rs 1499. The Zenpower feels very sturdy and its ultra-small size surprised me when I opened the box. Check out the unboxing video below. The sheer size of the device gives pleasure to hold it. It can be easily slipped into a jeans pocket or a clutch. It is very light at just 215 grams. It also has loads of safety features built into it apart from the basic overheating, overcharging and short circuit protection.

Of all these devices the OnePlus one is definitely a good buy. Look out for some offer or the other and you will be able to grab it for a price lesser than Rs 1399. But if you are impatient, go for the Mi Power bank. I would recommend the Asus Zenpower if you want a handy solution that has portability at the heart of its design. Apart from these OEM mobile manufacturers, there are a bunch of brands like Ambrane and Epsilion available in India and you can consider them as well.

Here is a guide to choose the best power bank

  1. Always choose a power bank with short circuit, temperate and overcharging protection.
  2. Bigger power capacity is always better.
  3. Apart from the brand name, look out for the actual battery manufacturer and go for trusted names.
  4. The more output socket, the better
  5. Always go for trusted brands. Your mobile phone is costlier than the power bank.
