Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi and T100 Chi launched

Asus is not done for the day yet. After announcing two new affordable Chromebooks and a Chromebit stick, the company has announced the launch of two new Windows 8.1 tablets today – the Transformer Book T100 Chi and the Transformer Book T300 Chi. Let the naming not confuse you because the specs of these two tablets are quite good.

The Transformer Book T300 Chi is the bigger and better of the two tablets launched today. Asus has launched two versions of the T300 Chi – a 12.5 inch 1080p display with Intel Core M-5Y10 processor, 4 GB RAM and a 128 GB SSD with micro SDXC expansion support. There is a higher resolution version, with a 12.5 inch WQHD 2560 x 1440 display. This version comes with a Intel Core M-5Y71 processor, 8 GB RAM and a 128 GB SSD with micro SDXC expansion support. Both the versions come with an integrated Intel HD 5300 GPU.

The 1080p version will cost $699 and the WQHD version will cost $899. Both the versions come with the dock included.

The cheaper, more modest sibling is the T100 Chi. With a 10.1 IPS LCD 1920×1200 display, the T100 Chi uses Intel Atom Z3775 quad-core processor and has 2 GB RAM. There are two internal storage options – 32 and 64 GB, but unlike the T300 Chi which had an SSD, the T100 Chi will use only eMMC. The internal storage can be expanded with a micro SDXC card. The T100 Chi comes with Intel HD GPU.

The 32 GB version will cost $399 and the 64 GB version will cost $449. Both the versions come with the dock included.

Regular connectivity options for both the tablets include Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0 x1, micro HDMI x1 and a headset port. Both the tablets come with a 31 Wh battery. Both the tablets also come with the ASUS Transformer Book Chi Active Stylus Pen.

Pre-orders for the Asus T300 Chi and the T100 Chi begin today.
