Apple makes 5K Retina Display standard across 27 inch iMacs
Well, this is a surprise. An update for iMacs, the world’s best All-in-One PCs was on the cards but Apple did surprise everyone with 5K retina display as standard for all 27” iMac models. The 21.5” iMac now gets a 4K resolution display (for top end variant). With a price tag of $1799, the low end 27” iMac is now absolutely value for money, thanks to the stunning 5K resolution 27” display, AMD Radeon R9 M380 graphics processor with 2GB of GDDR5 memory, 3.2GHz quad‑core Intel Core i5, 1TB of HDD, 8GB of RAM. All iMacs now come with the new Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Keyboard. The 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display is available today at Apple.com, Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers. The 27-inch iMac comes in three models starting at $1,799 (US), $1,999 (US) and $2,299 (US).

The 4K Retina Display on the 21.5” iMac comes with 4096×2304 pixel resolution and thats whopping 9.4 million pixels. The 5K resolution panels on 27” iMacs shoot 14.7 million pixels (7 times more than those on a standard HD display). The new panels also offer much wider color gamut leading to much higher color accuracy (25% larger color space).
Coming to processing power, 27” iMacs are powered by 6th generation Intel Core processors and AMD high performance graphics that can hit 3.7 teraflops of power. 21.5” 4K iMac come with fifth gen Intel Core processor and Intel Iris Pro graphics. Users can opt for new Fusion drives that combine traditional HDD and SSD into one drive (HDD space can hit up to 3TB and SSD space can hit up to 128GB).
