Android is still more popular than iOS in the comScore US report
Analytics firm comScore has released a new smartphone marketshare report, which puts Android ahead of iOS again. This data is for the first quarter of 2015, and comScore compares it to the fourth quarter of 2014.
According to comScore’s report, Android has a marketshare of 52.2% at the end of the first quarter of 2015, down from 53.2% at the end of the fourth quarter of 2014. iOS gained 1.8 percentage points in the same period, while Microsoft and BlackBerry lost 0.6% and 0.3% respectively. Symbian continued to have a 0.1% marketshare.
In terms of pure marketshare by companies, though, Apple is comfortably on the top with a share of 43.1%. Samsung comes in at a distant second with a share of 28.6%, down by 0.7%. LG comes in at the third place with a share of 8.4% on the back of a gain of 0.4%. Motorola and HTC are at the fourth and the fifth positions with 4.9% and 3.7% marketshare respectively. Motorola lost 0.3% share while HTC lost 0.1% share.
