Android now has over 1.4 billion active users: Google
Google today revealed that its smartphone platform Android has now crossed the 1.4 billion active users mark. Sharing the update at the Google event concluded a few hours ago, this is a nearly 40% growth in the number of active users in a matter of just two months.
Google has also revealed that a lot of the growth in this area is due to the steadfast Android adoption in Southeast Asian countries like Vietnam and Indonesia – many users in these countries have starting buying smartphones for the first time. The company’s affordable, entry level Android One series of smartphones has played a vital role in fuelling the growth, apart from other devices like the Moto E and Moto G. A lot of Chinese OEMs have also placed their products aggressively, offering a great value for money.
