There are many streaming boxes available out there and a handful of them are Certified Android products. The ones that are Android certified and 4K capable cost a fortune. Design
The box has a very minimalist design. It is a ubiquitous little square box with ports mentioned above on side and LED light indicator on the front. It has rubber feet to prevent from slipping. It comes with a Bluetooth remote, so you can practically hide it away from the plain sight when connected to your TV. The remote is a smart remote with fewer buttons and a large navigational button in the center. It has a button to invoke the Google voice assistant. It has dedicated buttons to open Netflix, Youtube, Play store and Live TV. The buttons are smooth to click and operate but are not backlit. The voice assistant button and the in-built mic is very responsive.

Setting up
Setting up the ACT Stream TV box is simple. Connect the HDMI cable to the TV and the appropriate port on the box. Once it is powered up, you will see a series of steps on your TV. Just follow the instructions and make sure you have your ACT username and password or registered mobile number handy. When asked for the details, key in and also connect it to the WiFi network or RJ45 cable. That is it and you are now all set to enjoy the 4K stream box.
Android 9 | User Interface
The device runs on Android 9 and you get a near-stock TV UI. You have access to the play store and you can install from the 1000s of apps available in the store. ACT has partnered with a few online streaming services and you will find those apps pre-installed for you. You will find these apps in the app section from the top tab. On the top, there is also a section called Offers. Here you will find offers that are tailor-made for you pushed from time to time. I got a couple of months free subscription for Hooq and Zee5. There is also a section for Live TV. For now, you will see a host of free to air TV channels and ACT is working to bring more channels to this section. Here you can watch TV content online, both live and from the past 7 days.
Value-added services
Live TV is a great value-added service that I found useful. Also, Hooq and Zee5 apps are good if you consume content from them. If you choose to continue after the free period, your billing will be integrated with your ACT fibernet bill cycle. Live TV and Integrated billing are 2 worthy value-added services offered along with the box. ACT is working with more partners to bring them on-board with the integrated billing program.
Performance
Booting time was pretty quick. Once the box is booted, opening apps and switching between apps was always smooth. I have been using the box for about 40 days and never did the apps crash even once. 2 GB RAM is good enough to handle the apps. I connected my 4 TB WD HD and also 32 GB pen-drive and accessed content without any issues. Using third-party apps, I connected the box to my home computer on the same network. While accessing large files over the network, there was a buffering lag, but access speed was good. It has inbuilt chrome cast and the casting was lag-free.
Verdict
4K TVs are becoming affordable and 4K content is also available online now. Of-course, most 4K TVs are smart TV and a bunch of those TVs is Android Certified like the Xiaomi MI TV, VU Android TV and Thomson Android TV. But the performance of this ACT TV box is much faster and smoother than the TV. If you have a non-smart TV, this is the perfect solution. But either way, if you have an ACT connection, I would highly recommend you to buy the ACT Stream TV 4K box from ACT. It is being rolled out in phases in selected cities. Just register on their site and ACT will contact you for further details.
