Acer releases C7 chromebook
Just when we thought that Google’s Chrome OS is having a slow and painful death, Google seem to have pulled a rabbit out of the hat. Yesterday, Acer and Google announced a new addition to Chromebook lineup, C7. The shocker here is that this 11.6″ chromebook costs just 199$ and is available starting today. The C7 chromebook comes with 320GB HDD (departing from SSDs that were de facto in earlier Chrome OS devices), Intel’s Core processor. Here is the specification list:
- 11.6’’ (1366×768) display
- 1 inch thin – 3 lbs / 1.4 kg
- 3.5 hours of battery1
- Intel® Core™ processor
- 100 GB Google Drive Cloud Storage2 with 320 GB Hard Disk Drive
- Dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Ethernet
- HD Camera
- 3x USB 2.0
- 1x HDMI Port, 1x VGA port
The C7 chromebook may not be as good as Samsung 550 in looks and power department but at less than half of the price, it is a steal! We do think that more OEMs ship low cost notebooks bundled with Chrome OS instead of shipping without an OS. Source
