Acer Aspire S13 is a gorgeous looking ultra slim notebook PC announced earlier this week. Acer Aspire S13 is powered by 6th Generation Intel Core processors and up to 8 GB of LPDDR3 system. Acer Aspire S13 will be available in North America in May with prices starting at $699; in EMEA this month with prices starting at €699; and in China in May with prices starting at ¥5,499. In the United States, the Aspire S 13 will also be available for pre-sale at the Acer Store soon.
“Demonstrating the equilibrium between form and function, the Aspire S 13’s powerful components come together to strike a perfect balance in size, weight and performance,” said James Lin, general manager, Consumer Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc. “Currently there is no other branded device on the market that can offer such design excellence at this desirable price.”
“Acer’s portfolio offers something for everyone, with device options to fit customers’ needs,” said Peter Han, vice president worldwide OEM Marketing, Microsoft Corp. “The ultra-slim Aspire S 13 brings Windows 10 to life with the security, productivity and manageability only Windows can deliver.”
2015 was the year when the ultrabooks and ultra slim notebooks starting showing up as mainstream notebooks and this year will definitely be the year of Ultrabooks. We have seen some amazing models announced earlier this year and ASUS went the extra mile by releasing a ultra thin gaming laptop.
Acer Aspire S13 looks gorgeous (especially in Obsidian black color), thanks to the diamond-cut chamfer on the edges (yes ,the famous chamfering that is done on premium smartphones has made its way into notebook design) and the touchpad, Acer’s trademark nano imprint pattern on the top cover and premium finishes. While the Aspire S13 comes in matte finish, the hinge is given a glossy treatment and the contrasting finishing gives the notebook a unique look. Aspire S 13 weighs just 1.30kgs (2.86 pounds) and is only 0.57″ thick (327 W x 228 D x 14.58 H mm).
The Aspire S 13 comes with a 13.3″ touchscreen display and given that the panel is IPS panel, we can expect very wide viewing angles. Acer has implemented BlueLightShield which, when enabled reduces blue-light emission. The keyboard is backlit with two stage backlight intensity setting.
Other feature include a 54Wh 3-cell battery that can provide upto 13 hours of life, USB 3.1 Type-C port, 802.11ac Wi-Fi with 2×2 MU-MIMO (3x faster than MIMO 802.11ac), precision Touchpad with gestures support.
