Acer announce world’s first 15″ Chromebook
Acer has kicked off the new year with the launch of world’s first 15” Chromebook, a notebook running Google’s Chrome OS. Acer Chromebook 15 will be the largest Chromebook and will be the first one from Acer powered by Intel’s 5th generation Core i3 Broadwell or next generation Intel Celeron processors. With this release, Acer is planning to extend their 40% marketshare in world wide Chromebook sales. With a starting price of $249.99 (USD), the new Chromebook 15 is set to battle with low end Windows and Linux notebooks.
“The Acer Chromebook 15 is a true powerhouse – it provides fast mobile performance and a large display to help customers accomplish more every day,” said Jerry Kao, president of Acer Notebook Business Group. “Acer has been a leader in the Chromebook market, from providing the latest in technology and trailblazing battery life to designing new form factors. We’re driving the category forward again with the world’s first 15.6-inch display Chromebook, the Acer Chromebook 15.”
Display on Chromebook will come with a FullHD resolution (1980×1080) and for those who want to spend a bit less can go with 1366×768 HD resolution. Both display panels will have anti-glare coating for less eye strain. There are two full size top firing speakers that provide very good audio quality and thanks to the positioning, there wont be any loss in volume or quality, wherever the Chromebook is placed. Similar to other Chromebooks, Acer Chromebook 15 comes with a high speed SSD. Chromebook 15 weighs 2.2kgs (4.85 pounds) and is just 0.95inches thick (24 mm).
