3D photo sharing service Seene launches Android app
Remember Android phones with 3D capable cameras? Yeah, those crazy days. While that didn’t take off at all, there’s a 3D photo sharing service that’s bringing its app to Android finally.
After launching on the iPhone back in late 2013, 3D photo sharing service Seene has finally launched its Android app. The app itself won’t transfer your phone’s camera to a 3D-capable one, but it’ll require you to do some work to make 3D photos out of them.
Seene achieves its 3D effect by using smart algorithms to determine the location of the objects in space when you pan around the phone. This lets Seene guess the depth of the objects you’re trying to capture. Sounds familiar? That’s because a lot of apps have tried this before and after Seene. Now, I’ll be honest – I hadn’t heard of Seene at all before my colleagues pointed it out to me, but I’m easily satisfied with Instagram.
Seene only works with stills, which is understandable. The app is free on both iOS and Android. Bonus for Android users – Seene conforms to the Material Design guidelines.
