Redmi Note 5 launched in India – Here is everything you need to know
Redmi 5 Plus is the Redmi Note 5 in India
Redmi Note 4 is a massive success for Xiaomi. This mobile single-handedly catapulted Xiaomi’s market share in India to a lion’s share. Banking on the success of Redmi Note 4, Xiaomi was able to sell a bunch of other budget-friendly smartphones like the Redmi 4, 4A or even the 5A. It has been over a year since the Note 4 was launched the whole nation has been anticipating the launch of the next version. Finally, the day has dawned and Xiaomi has unveiled not just one, but two variants of the Note 5: Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro.
Here is everything you need to know about the Redmi Note 5
Redmi Note 5 was launched in China as the Redmi 5 Plus. It was launched alongside Redmi 5, which is also expected to be launched in India soon. Just like the Note 4, the Note 5 is also powered by Snapdragon 625. It will be available in 2 variants: 3 GB RAM + 32 GB ROM and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB ROM.
But new to Redmi Note 5 is the full vision display at an aspect ratio of 18:9. The 5.99-inch display is protected by Corning Gorilla glass.
The camera gets a spec bump, now it is 12 MP instead of 13 MP on the Note 4. If you are wondering how is it a spec bump, the camera has a larger sensor and better optics. The front camera is same though but it has an LED flash. You can expect the camera performance on the Redmi Note 5 to be better than the Note 4.
The battery is just 4000 mAh and the mobile supports Bluetooth 4.2. It runs on Android Nougat with MIUI 9 skinned on top.
It will be available in 4 colors: Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Blue. I love the Blue color variant. At launch, Black and Gold will be available and the other colors will be made available soon.
Redmi Note 5 will be priced at Rs 9999, for the 3 GB Variant and 11999 for the 4GB variant.

My First Impressions
The mobile has an immersive display, and apart from that, it is not drastically different from Note 5 in terms of design. It is also a bit heavier than the average mobile and the Camera performance is slightly better comparing to Note 4. It may not have all the bells and whistles of its big “pro”ther, but it is a trendy replacement of the Note 4 on the market shelves. Stay tuned for a detailed review of the Redmi 5 Pro.
Here are some of shots which I had clicked with the Redmi 5 Plus
