A browser that can control hue lights – Vivaldi 1.5
Vivaldi, is not a new browser software anymore. It has been around for a while and probably, you have been trapped under a rock or abducted by aliens, if you haven’t heard about it already. Well. if you are hearing about Vivaldi for the first time, ‘Welcome back’ and make sure you read my introduction to Vivaldi here and here. I have been using Vivaldi as my primary browser for quite some time and I have been discovering a lot of its potential. With Vivaldi, the browsing experience is new and refreshing. Integrated Notes, Browser panels, mouse gestures and tab stacking are my favorite features in the Vivaldi.
Today Vivaldi released version 1.5 and it has got a cool new feature. The browser can now control your smart home lighting. The browser can be paired up with Philips hue lights and based on the color scheme of the website you are visiting, the hue lights can change color. For instance, if you are on Facebook, the lighting would be blue and if you are Google, the lighting could be red, and so on.
“This is just a first step for us but imagine a world where you get notified for a new email or web notification through a light bulb, explains CEO Jon von Tetzchner.’’ “Vivaldi is all about customization and flexibility. Integrating with IoT devices like Philips Hue makes it possible for Vivaldi to adapt to you and your everyday life.”
We are right at the entrance of the smart home era and we can expect more such exciting features from software that can change the experience of the real world.
Tab stacking has been one of my favorite features on the Vivaldi. For a person like me, who keeps over 50 browser tabs open, this is a welcome feature. With Vivaldi 1.5, tab stacking experience has been improved by allowing users to create folder and better organize the tabs.
Vivaldi 1.5 gets a reader mode button which lets you read from the browser without any distractions. If you are browsing with slow connections, Vivaldi’s new feature fetches the page in parts, as you read/consume. This enables a better experience for anyone who does not want to wait till the full page is loaded. Integrated Notes was a cool feature in the Vivalid browser and with the version 1.5, when you add a note from a page, the screenshot of that page is also added automatically. This just made my life easier.
Well, using the Vivaldi has been a good experience for me and Vivaldi is a user-centric browser software. You have heard enough of it already, so go ahead and download it to try it for yourself. Do let me know your comments below and I will surely include them in my detailed review of the Vivaldi browser, coming up soon.
