Asus ZenWatch 3 Launched for €229
Asus has launched the successor of its ZenWatch 2 that was launched last year, dubbed as ZenWatch 3. The smartwatch has been priced at €229. The ZenWatch 2 was priced significantly lower at €169.
The ZenWatch 3 was launched at the company’s Zenvolution event, a pre IFA 2016 event. The smartwatch will be available in Gunmetal Black, Silver and Rose Gold color options.
The ZenWatch 3 comes with interchangeable straps. It will come with 50 custom watch faces with the watch along with its FaceDesigner app, allowing customers to create custom faces that they want.
The ZenWatch 3 features a 1.39 inch circular Amoled display with a resolution 400 x 400 pixel resolution. It comes with a pixel density of ~287 ppi. The smartwatch comes with IP67 certification which makes it dust and water resistant.
Asus Vice President Eric Chen, speaking at the pre-IFA 2016 event, said, “IFA is where we launched our very first smartwatch and we have continued the tradition today with ZenWatch 3. We deeply appreciate the loyal support from consumers in Europe, and we are excited to bring our new Zenvolution product line-up to the European markets.”
The ZenWatch 3 is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor. It comes with 512 MB RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. It runs on Android Wear OS and is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above and iOS devices.
The ZenWatch 3 comes with a 341 mAh battery that comes with HyperCharge feature that can charge up to 60% battery in just 15 minutes. There is an optional battery pack that provides 40% more battery.
