10.or G – The best from all mid-rangers, in one package (Review)
Little is known about this brand called 10.or and they are already making waves with their two new models in India. The 10.or E and 10.or G are the talks of the town and everyone is curious to know about these mobiles. We have already reviewed the 10.or E and you know I loved it for a basic smartphone. Now let us talk about the 10.or G. 10.or G is a mid-range mobile that is loaded with specs and light on price. It is priced starting at Rs 10,999 and it is shooting to bring down a heavy army of strong competitors in this segment. Let us review it 10.or G if it is worth the price.
Design
10.or G is a metal body mobile, but the design resembles a lot of mobiles in this segment. Nothing unique about the design, but it is a well-built mobile. It has a micro USB port flanked by dual speakers at the bottom. The 3.5 mm audio jack is at the top. The sides have the power button and the volume rocker. It does not have a dedicated SD card slot, but a dual hybrid SIM slot. At the rear, you would spot a noise canceling mic, dual camera setup with dual flash and a fingerprint sensor. The mobile does not have capacitive buttons, as the navigations keys are on-screen and yet the chin and bezels are so thick. The front camera is assisted by a flash. The design hits a check mark on everything that is expected out of a mid-range mobile these days. It is not a fancy phone, but it is not meant to be one. So let us look beyond the design and see what the 10.or G has got to offer.
Display
It has a 5.5 inch IPS LCD panel which is capable of full HD resolution. The display is bright and has a vivid color reproduction. The text and images are crisp and legible under all lighting conditions. The viewing angles are good but the contrast ratio is a bit weak. It may not be one of the brilliant displays we have seen, but it is a decent display considering the price and comparing to its competition.
Hardware and Performance
10.or G is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor with Adreno 506 GPU. It has either 3 GB or 4 GB RAM and 32 or 64 GB internal memory respectively. It has a dual hybrid SIM slot. It runs the latest Android Nougat OS with the stock user experience. Snapdragon 626 is a minor improvement over Snapdragon 625. It has full support for dual camera and a fast LTE. The UI has no lags and it has no issues with multitasking apps. Even after loading 40 apps and games, the mobiles shows no signs of lag. On playing resource-intensive games, the mobile gives a smooth gaming experience with no screen drops or flicker. There is a bit of throttling and guess that explains the graphics rendering quality being average. There is no over-heating. The mobiles heat up to 8 degrees only after continuous usage of camera or gaming for over 45 minutes.
The fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate. It does not have FM Radio. It supports USB OTG memory expansion. The dual Dirac speaker is good in quality, but as they are both placed on the same side, it does not give you stereo effect. For the price, the 10.or G impresses me with its performance.
Camera
It is officially the age of dual cameras. There are loads of mobiles out there with dual camera setup, either on the front, rear or both. But most of them struggle with the actual implementation. 10. or G has a dual 13 MP camera with dual tone LED flash. The dual camera setup in 10.or G is to get blurry background for portrait shots and it does a good job. Edge detection algorithm is better than in most mobile phones in this price range and the software processing to achieve the depth of field, works pretty good. Apart from the portrait mode, the mobile has over 10 different modes in the camera UI, but Auto mode is the best among them. It can click sharp and detailed images under good lighting conditions. The color reproduction, exposure levels, and contrast are all good. As the light drops, noise creeps in, but still focussing is accurate and the image has decent levels of details. The mobile can also shoot 1080p videos and it has an electronic image stabilization. Not many in this price range have image stabilization. The footage is smooth and the colors pop up giving a nice experience to video clips.
The front has a 16 MP shooter with a single LED flash. The selfies come out well and at the end of the day, I feel that 10.or G has ticked off every single requirement for a camera mobile in the mid-range segment. The selfies bring out good details and the skin tone is natural. Check out the camera samples below.

Software
10.or G runs on Android 7.1.2 with stock UI. It has a bunch of Amazon apps pre-installed: Amazon Shopping, Prime Video, and Kindle app. The mobile lets you sign in with your Amazon account while setting it up and it keeps showing up offers and order status in the notification and home screen widgets. The Amazon apps cannot be uninstalled, but they can be disabled if you find it too much intrusive. The UI is fast and smooth. It shows no signs of lag. The hardware is tuned to handle the software with ease. 10.or promises regular security updates and also an update to Android Oreo when it is available.
Battery
The mobile runs on a 4000 mAh battery. It comes with a 5v 2A fast charger and this charger can charge the mobile from 0 to 100% in about 2 hours. Once charged, the mobile lasts for over 1.5 days of moderate usage. On intensive usage, you will get a screen on time of over 5 to 6 hours.
Verdict
10.or (pronounced Tenor) is a new name in the mobile industry. But for a new product from a new brand, it has a good amount of interest around it. The creators of 10.or G seems to have studied the market and heard the customers issues. I see the 10.or G being a direct competition to Xiaomi and Honor. It is pitted against Redmi Note 4 and Honor 6x. It has the battery life and performance of Redmi Note 4, camera quality of Honor 6x and software experience like the Mi A1. If you are looking for a dual camera mobile, with stock Android and a massive battery, 10.or G is the only logical choice. We at gadgetdetail would highly recommend 10.or G.
